Introduction

Before I joined SThree, I studied in Munich and worked as a researcher in Cape Town for six months. I knew a bit about recruitment as I’d got my Researcher role through a worldwide agency for interns and students. When I returned to Germany I saw an English advert for a recruitment job in Munich at Progressive Online. Back in 2007, the recruitment industry was absolutely underdeveloped in Germany. Great news for me. I interviewed, got a call back saying I was successful, and ten days later I signed my contract.

My role

I started my career at SThree with a lot enthusiasm. I was excited. However, this was soon followed by a short period of disillusion. My first interviews crashed. I didn’t give up though. I started to organise my day and week plans better and got more structure into my business. Eventually, I started seeing results. I became one of the best IT-recruiters in my office. Then I moved from Munich to Frankfurt to launch Orgtel. Finally, a couple of months ago, I transferred to Stuttgart to manage the local CF and PR division.

I’m enjoying my career path. I’ve worked for three fantastic SThree brands in three years, in three different locations. It means I’ve worked with a lot of different colleagues and managers. But it doesn’t matter where the office is, the SThree culture shines through at every location. For me, the SThree identity and our values have grown over the last few years especially.

However, in this role, there will always be lows. The secret to overcoming them is a positive attitude and a never-give-up philosophy. You need keep yourself looking forward,

As I settle into my new role in Stuttgart, I see myself making this office the highest performing in Germany. We have a brilliant team here. We have high standards and a winning mentality.

Training

I received a lot of training on the SThree Learning and Development courses. It’s no exaggeration to say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. The good thing about SThree, though, is that it’s not all about learning in the classroom. Some of the most important lessons I’ve learnt have been from my Manager in the office. We call it ‘on the desk’ training.

At a lot of companies, or so my friends have told me, they train you up when you’re a new starter. And then that’s it. You’re left to fend for yourself. Here, the training grows with you – whatever stage of your career you’re at.

Working at SThree

When you’re working for SThree you’re surrounded by highly trained employees and an open company culture. It forms the basis for a motivating, performance-orientated climate. It can get competitive! At SThree, everybody lives by our values though: respect, energy, rapport and reward.

In our office in Stuttgart, we have a very good team fit. For me, the team spirit is particularly valuable in our industry. By sticking together, we can all achieve more as individuals. All my colleagues are open-minded and our friendly atmosphere shows what we are - a "family office". All the employees here have access to excellent training and career opportunities. I like the company culture a lot.

For my daily work at SThree, it’s important that managers and directors are reachable all the time. Luckily for me, this is a given. But this doesn’t mean we rely on them. I am surrounded by people who are motivated and who take on responsibility to support their own career.

Since I’ve worked here, I have attended several Lunch Clubs and been on some amazing trips. We went to Barcelona, which was fantastic and we went to Solden in the Alps – I’d recommend it! In fact, I’ve loved every trip I’ve been on and hope there are many more to come.
