Introduction

After I completed my Master Degree in Psychology, I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career. All I knew was that I wanted to work in an environment where I’d be in contact with other people. I didn’t want to be chained to a desk.

After putting my CV online, I was contacted by SThree. I read up on the company and quickly got very excited by the role on offer. At the interview they explained that I’d be involved in opening a new office in Luxembourg. Now I definitely wanted the job!

It’s surpassed my expectations. Not only am I constantly in contact with fellow professionals; I’m using my language skills in a truly international environment.

My role

I’ve been here almost two years now. It’s a steep learning curve. You have to confront your weaknesses quickly. Then you’re trained to address them. It’s not always fun – but nothing makes you progress faster.

I had the amazing opportunity to work in a very sophisticated market: the Banking sector. It took time to develop my network and build up a reputation but I’ve loved (almost) every minute of it. Today, I’m in contact with CEOs and board members of banks on a daily basis. We discuss their future strategy and their recruitment plans. Being recognised as a market expert is amazing. Especially when you consider how limited my experience was when I first started out. It wouldn’t have been possible without the support from my manager and the SThree business model.

Training

During my time here I’ve received a lot of training. It all starts with a very good introduction to basic sales skills. Then you move onto more specific topics like Business Planning and Headhunting.

Now I’m on a training program geared towards making me a Manager. It’s great. You get to meet people working all over Europe. It’s really interesting to exchange ideas with them and learn from their experiences. I think I’ll be a better Manager for it. Which I guess is the idea!

Working at SThree

I always say: working at SThree is like working in a beehive. There is so much activity. You can literally feel the energy – it’s quite contagious! It really gets me going!

For me there is no secret to thriving here. If you want to be successful and progress quickly, you have to put the hours in. It takes extra effort. The nice thing about SThree is that if you do this, you’ll be rewarded.

I can say that I earn a lot of money for someone my age. I’ve also had the chance to eat at some of the country’s finest restaurants, had paid-for luxury weekends away with my girlfriend and some amazing nights out with my colleagues.

However, what’s most important to me about life at SThree is the fact that you’re the master of your own career. If you’re successful and enthusiastic, the manager and the company will be the first to support you.
