The Trainee Recruitment Consultant role

Using your sales, persuasion and networking skills you’ll contact potential clients then find the best candidates to meet their needs. You’ll manage the whole interview process, relaying feedback, selling candidates to clients and job opportunities to candidates. Then you’ll negotiate to close the best deal for all parties.

Our Recruitment Consultants place professionals in a variety of industries and disciplines from energy, pharmaceutical and finance to IT and HR - often in senior positions. So we’re looking for confident, natural communicators with ideally a minimum of two years’ business experience, preferably in sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Finding new opportunities from existing and potential clients through phone calls, networking, following up leads and referrals, and attending client meetings
  • Keeping your ears and eyes open for new leads – knowing your market, keeping up-to-date with the movements of candidates and developments with clients
  • Building strong working relationships, and a good reputation for yourself and our brand – keeping your name top of client call lists
  • Developing a key contacts lists of leads/clients with full supporting information such as contact details, company information etc
  • Maintaining a candidate database, so you can more easily match candidates to vacancies
  • Sourcing candidates (via databases, networking, recommendation, headhunting, e-marketing and advertising) to match specific assignments
  • Screening CVs for specific skills, experience and salary expectations
  • Conducting interviews, building relationships with candidates and managing the whole recruitment process
  • Negotiating with clients and candidates over offer terms and conditions of employment – ensuring best results and profitable placements for all parties
  • Working closely with our Business Development team to help our business expand even further
  • Achieving personal objectives and sales targets (these will be discussed and agreed with your Manager)
  • Planning and prioritising your own sales activity (with support from your Manager)
  • Completing your induction and ongoing training – it is up to you to get the very most out of it
  • Sticking to our high standards and following our processes
  • Checking references from all candidates
  • Managing data and keeping up-to-date with our systems
